{"id":8674,"date":"2014-10-04T17:43:38","date_gmt":"2014-10-04T16:43:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=8674"},"modified":"2014-10-04T17:43:38","modified_gmt":"2014-10-04T16:43:38","slug":"ihbc-welcomes-fine-for-failure-to-comply-with-enforcement-notice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=8674","title":{"rendered":"IHBC welcomes fine for failure to comply with enforcement notice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Cheltenham Magistrates Court have issued a fine against the owners of a listed barn who refused to comply with an enforcement notice to remove unauthorised solar panels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Cheltenham Magistrates\u2019 Court announced that a discounted fine would be given for the early guilty plea, but that the matter was regarded as especially serious as the parties concerned are estate agents and should have been more knowledgeable about the rules and regulations on planning.<\/p>\n<p>Bob Kindred, IHBC\u2019s Research Consultant said \u2018This case illustrates how important it is that all and any professionals involved with buildings should fully understand the law with regard to historic building protection and the consequences and penalties of failing to adhere to its clear requirements.\u00a0 This is particularly so where the defendants are listed building owners themselves and even more so when advising other owners and prospective purchasers in the conduct of their everyday business.\u2019<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Gloucestershire Echo\u2019 has reported that the owners of an estate agents in Cheltenham have been fined for failure to comply with a listed building enforcement notice requiring the removal of solar panels from a listed barn which they own in Charlton Kings.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?s=enforcement\" target=\"_blank\">IHBC newsblogs on enforcement<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gloucestershireecho.co.uk\/Cheltenham-estate-agent-Peter-Ball-wife-Linda\/story-22889210-detail\/story.html\" target=\"_blank\">Gloucestershire Echo article<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cheltenham Magistrates Court have issued a fine against the owners of a listed barn who refused to comply with an enforcement notice to remove unauthorised solar panels.
