{"id":823,"date":"2009-11-16T11:04:45","date_gmt":"2009-11-16T11:04:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=823"},"modified":"2010-03-24T11:05:18","modified_gmt":"2010-03-24T11:05:18","slug":"rtpi-qualifies-nps-welcome","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=823","title":{"rendered":"RTPI qualifies NPS welcome"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"id1\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), the professional body for Britain\u2019s 22,000 planners, has on 10 November welcomed the publication of the first draft National Policy Statements, but warned that without an overall national spatial plan, we risk missing out significantly on the real economic, social and climate change benefits of planning new major infrastructure in a coherent way.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nMatt Thomson, RTPI acting Director of Policy and Partnerships said: \u201cWe welcome the publication of the first of the draft National Policy Statements which provide, for the first time, an opportunity for genuine debate on the national need for the various types of infrastructure. What is clearly lacking, however, is a national spatial plan which brings together plans for jobs, housing and tackling climate change with those for energy, transport and water.
