{"id":7752,"date":"2014-05-31T16:51:21","date_gmt":"2014-05-31T15:51:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=7752"},"modified":"2014-05-31T16:51:21","modified_gmt":"2014-05-31T15:51:21","slug":"uahs-explore-homes-through-the-ages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=7752","title":{"rendered":"UAHS: Explore Homes Through the Ages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">A new website developed by the Ulster Architectural Heritage Society (UAHS) has been launched, designed to raise awareness of historic buildings as central to sustainability and help teachers develop activities for class work exploring heritage<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The website includes illustrations of different types of housing, timelines of historical time periods and worksheets and quizzes to download, as well as a glossary.\u00a0 The project was funded by the NGO Challenge fund.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">UAHS writes<\/span>:<br \/>\nAs a development of the UAHS \u2018Looking Back, Moving Forward\u2019 Key stage 2 Educational pack, this website provides an interactive learning tool that demonstrates the evolution of homes and highlights the importance of historic buildings in the role of a sustainable future.<\/p>\n<p>The focus is on Georgian and Victorian properties, as they constitute the vast majority of historic homes still in use and uniquely features examples restored\u00a0by Hearth. \u00a0With engaging illustrations, photographs, quizzes and other useful links the user will be entertained whilst learning about historic buildings, construction, materials, architectural details, eco ideas and sustainability in relation to how people used to live.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.uahs.org.uk\/news\/2014-05-19\/homes-through-the-ages-website-goes-live\/?q=0&amp;article=175\" target=\"_blank\">UAHS news<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.homesthroughtheages.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Homes Through the Ages<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new website developed by the Ulster Architectural Heritage Society (UAHS) has been launched, designed to raise awareness of historic buildings as central to sustainability and help teachers develop activities for class work exploring heritage.
