{"id":7467,"date":"2014-04-12T17:31:01","date_gmt":"2014-04-12T16:31:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=7467"},"modified":"2014-04-12T17:31:01","modified_gmt":"2014-04-12T16:31:01","slug":"welsh-government-announces-new-regeneration-funding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=7467","title":{"rendered":"Welsh Government announces new regeneration funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Welsh Minister for Housing and Regeneration, Carl Sargeant has announced a \u00a32 million fund for areas of socio-economic deprivation in Wales.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Welsh Government writes:<br \/>\n<\/span>The additional funding comes on top of the \u00a35 million announced last September as part of the Welsh Government\u2019s Vibrant and Viable Places Tackling Poverty scheme and means that 7 local authorities will now each receive \u00a31 million.<\/p>\n<p>The communities who will receive the funding are Tredegar, in Blaenau Gwent; Rhymney, in Caerphilly; Grangetown, in Cardiff; Llanelli, in Carmarthenshire; Rhyl, in Denbighshire; Caernarfon, in Gwynedd and Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister said: \u2018The Welsh Government is committed to tackling poverty and making a real difference to the lives of people across Wales. Regeneration continues to play a vital role to this end and I\u2019m delighted to be able to announce this increase in funding.\u00a0 Each of the seven local authorities will receive \u00a31 million each and I want to see this used to contribute to the regeneration efforts in these areas with the aim of creating more jobs and training opportunities.\u00a0 We will now discuss with the local authorities concerned to decide the best way of meeting these objectives and ensuring that local communities get the maximum benefit from this funding.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The funding is for communities who were unsuccessful in bidding for a share of the \u00a3100m Vibrant and Viable Places fund but who are in the top 10% of the Welsh Index for Multiple Deprivation<b>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=7157\" target=\"_blank\">Previous IHBC newsblog on Welsh regeneration funds<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wales.gov.uk\/newsroom\/housing-and-regeneration\/2014\/140410-further-regeneration-funding-announced-for-deprived-areas\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\">Welsh Government funding announcement<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welsh Minister for Housing and Regeneration, Carl Sargeant has announced a \u00a32 million fund for areas of socio-economic deprivation in Wales.
