Applications to take part in the 4th national civic day on Saturday 21 June are being invited as communities across England prepare to celebrate a day with conservation-related highlights that currently include the preparation of a local list and recording the condition of war memorials.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Civic Voice, <\/span>national charity for the civic movement in England, writes:
\n<\/span>Town and parish councils, community groups and businesses can all participate in Civic Day to showcase what is of value in their local area.<\/p>\n

Griff Rhys Jones, President of Civic Voice said \u2018Civic Day is more than simply a celebration of fantastic places and people. It is a call to all communities to make a real difference to their neighbourhoods. A call not just to seize Civic Day but seize the next 150 days to showcase what is of value to your community.\u2019<\/p>\n

Launching Civic Day in 2013, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Eric Pickles MP said \u2018Civic Day is a great time to take pride in our local communities and the neighbourhoods we love. Enthusiastic and enterprising people, like those involved in civic societies, are the backbone of those communities.\u2019<\/p>\n
