{"id":7117,"date":"2014-02-01T16:44:16","date_gmt":"2014-02-01T16:44:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=7117"},"modified":"2014-02-01T16:44:16","modified_gmt":"2014-02-01T16:44:16","slug":"big-legacy-grants-announced-for-derrylondonderry-communities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=7117","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Big\u2019 Legacy grants announced for Derry\/Londonderry communities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u00a3400,000 of funding has been announced by the Big Lottery Fund to the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland\u2019s Acorn Fund for UK City of Culture legacy community arts and culture projects<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Arts Council of Northern Ireland writes<\/span>:<br \/>\nThe grant has been awarded to the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland\u2019s Acorn Fund and will be used to provide grants for community arts and culture projects across County Derry\/Londonderry. The grant will also support projects for young people and marginalised groups such as homeless people, ethnic minorities and people with learning disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>The Big Lottery Fund announcement builds on the legacy of the Culture for All programme \u2013 a joint small grants programme delivered with the Arts Council of Northern Ireland \u2013 which invested \u00a31.6 million into activities which supported groups across NI to take part in the first UK City of Culture celebrations.<\/p>\n<p>The lottery grant will also be used to develop a three-year Acorn Fund programme to support young people with learning disabilities who want to pursue a career in the arts.<\/p>\n<p>Frank Hewitt, the Big Lottery Fund NI Chair, said: \u201cI am delighted to be able to announce this grant which will help build on the success of the investment we made through the Culture for All programme.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018This grant to the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland will help to support to people and communities across County Derry\/Londonderry to build a legacy to the first UK City of Culture.
