Elizabeth Blood, Annual School Bursary award winner for the East Midlands (EM) Branch of the IHBC, and Heritage Support & War Memorials Officer at Leicestershire County Council, has captured a unique sense of the IHBC\u2019s 2013 School, on Skills in Carlisle, in a short presentation now available on YouTube.<\/span><\/p>\n

IHBC Director Sean O’Reilly said: \u2018This is a big and generous \u2018thank-you\u2019 from Liz to the IHBC\u2019s East Midlands Branch, who helped support her attendance, and to the IHBC as a whole.\u00a0 It\u2019s caught the mood of the event, and much of its headline content, in a wonderfully personal and accessible style.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018The film is also a fitting reminder of just what might be expected in our forthcoming School in Edinburgh in June, on \u2018The art of conservation\u2019, so be sure to keep an eye out for its launch in the coming weeks.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018And if you are not yet a member of the IHBC, be sure to join as soon as possible because member savings at our events make IHBC membership one of the best ways to ease pressure on your finances as well as to help find or secure your job!\u2019<\/p>\n

Continuing Professional Development is hugely enriched by this annual event; I strongly urge you to make your way to Edinburgh and experience it for yourself.\u00a0 Carlisle 2013 was an inspiring experience. Edinburgh 2014 will be too.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018The Full School offers exclusive site visits, tours and many opportunities to speak to others working in historic building conservation. This really helps you make the most of the Day School and, as someone who specialises in war memorials, I found that this refreshingly scales up the application of the skills and conservation principles I work with every day.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018And you learn just as much from the company you meet. There is so much going on in many areas of the profession, and the School is the best way I know to immerse yourself in the diversity and dynamism of the sector.\u2019<\/p>\n
