{"id":6976,"date":"2013-12-23T17:07:09","date_gmt":"2013-12-23T17:07:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=6976"},"modified":"2013-12-23T17:07:09","modified_gmt":"2013-12-23T17:07:09","slug":"save-britains-heritage-wins-hlf-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=6976","title":{"rendered":"SAVE Britain\u2019s Heritage wins HLF support"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">SAVE Britain\u2019s Heritage has received \u00a310,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) Catalyst Small Grants programme to develop a corporate fundraising strategy<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">SAVE writes<\/span>:<br \/>\nThis will enable SAVE to reach out to key decision makers and companies who are interested in helping protect the UK\u2019s rich heritage, improve environmental stewardship and empower local communities.<\/p>\n<p>The Grants programme will include mentoring, staff training and improvements to SAVE\u2019s website and supporter database. As a result more people will have the opportunity to benefit from SAVE\u2019s work.<\/p>\n<p>SAVE Britain\u2019s Heritage is one of the UK\u2019s most effective advocates for the historic environment. For almost 40 years the organisation has been at the forefront of national campaigns to prevent the neglect or loss of buildings of every kind, from palaces, country houses and parish churches to power stations, terraced houses and humble cottages.<\/p>\n<p>SAVE has been instrumental in the redevelopment of many of the UK\u2019s foremost historic sites including Battersea Power Station, Tate Modern, Dumfries House, Hylands House, Chillingham Castle and Sheerness Dockyard. Many less well-known site have been saved by local communities supported by SAVE.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the award, SAVE\u2019s Director, Clem Cecil, said: \u2018we are thrilled to have received the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund. With this grant SAVE will be able to reach a wider audience and make the organisation more effective.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Sue Bowers, Head of Heritage Lottery Fund London, said: \u2018Through Catalyst small grants HLF aims to create a step-change in the way organisations approach fundraising.
