{"id":6942,"date":"2013-12-13T18:00:36","date_gmt":"2013-12-13T18:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=6942"},"modified":"2013-12-13T18:00:36","modified_gmt":"2013-12-13T18:00:36","slug":"cumbrian-wind-farm-rejected-on-visual-grounds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=6942","title":{"rendered":"Cumbrian wind farm rejected on \u2018visual\u2019 grounds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Plans for a six-turbine wind farm near the village of Frizington, Cumbria, have been refused on landscape and visual grounds by Communities Secretary Eric Pickles on the recommendation of the planning inspector who held the recovered inquiry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Developer Banks Renewables scheme for a 12-megawatt facility had been rejected by Copeland Borough Council.<\/p>\n<p>The decision letter made it clear he agreed with the inspector that the wind farm would cause significant adverse harm to landscape character \u2018in its own right and cumulatively\u2019 because of two other wind farms in the locality.<\/p>\n<p>He agreed that siting the turbines on the ridge and west facing slope of Weddicar Rigg \u2018would inevitably detract from the landscape\u2019s wild and open character\u2019.
