{"id":6735,"date":"2013-11-08T19:05:15","date_gmt":"2013-11-08T19:05:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=6735"},"modified":"2013-11-08T19:05:15","modified_gmt":"2013-11-08T19:05:15","slug":"sgs-town-centre-action-plan-councils-may-start-town-centre-investment-zones","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=6735","title":{"rendered":"SG\u2019s \u2018Town Centre Action Plan\u2019: councils may start Town Centre Investment Zones"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Scottish Government (SG) \u2018Town Centre Action Plan\u2019, published in response to the independent \u2018National Review of Town Centres\u2019 in July, has been launched and outlines joint working between the public, private and community sectors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Local government and planning minister, Derek Mackay, has also been appointed as dedicated minister for town centres.<\/p>\n<p>The response also includes \u00a32m fund to bring empty properties back into use, the expansion of the Fresh Starts business rates relief scheme to pubs, hotels and restaurants, and a competition for entrepreneurs to drive forward town centre regeneration ideas.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Mackay said: \u2018The Scottish Government is determined that our town centres should be vibrant, attractive and safe places where local people and visitors alike want to spend their time and money.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018They should be accessible places which invite business start-up and inspire innovative ideas from all walks of the community.
