{"id":6686,"date":"2013-11-01T17:42:30","date_gmt":"2013-11-01T17:42:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=6686"},"modified":"2013-11-01T17:42:30","modified_gmt":"2013-11-01T17:42:30","slug":"new-he-section-on-sg-website","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=6686","title":{"rendered":"New HE section on SG website"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Scottish Government\u2019s (SG) website is now populated by a section dedicated to the Historic Environment (HE).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The SG writes:<br \/>\n<\/span>Scotland has a wealth of history the evidence of which can be seen across the country from field markings and standing stones to our streetscapes, offices, cultural venues and homes.\u00a0\u00a0It is part of our everyday lives.\u00a0\u00a0It gives us a sense of place, well-being and cultural identity.<\/p>\n<p>There are five World Heritage Sites, over 45,000 listed buildings, over 8,000 scheduled monuments and 645 conservation areas.<\/p>\n<p>This dynamic and precious resource is actively cared for and celebrated by hundreds of thousands of people.<\/p>\n<p>A wide range of specialists work to protect and promote the historic environment across public, private and voluntary sector organisations.<\/p>\n<p>Partnership and collaborative working across the sector contributes to realisation of the benefits and values of our rich and dynamic historic environment assets.<\/p>\n<p>Scotland\u2019s first ever over-arching strategy for the historic environment sets out four key aims:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Cross-cutting strategic priorities<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Understand \u2013 by investigating and recording<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Protect \u2013 by caring and protecting<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Value \u2013 by sharing and celebrating<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">For sector links to bodies including the IHBC see<\/span>: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scotland.gov.uk\/Topics\/ArtsCultureSport\/arts\/Historic-environment\/organisations\" target=\"_blank\">LINK<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">See the developing web resource at<\/span>: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scotland.gov.uk\/Topics\/ArtsCultureSport\/arts\/Historic-environment\" target=\"_blank\">LINK<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Scottish Government\u2019s (SG) website is now populated by a section dedicated to the Historic Environment (HE).
