{"id":6397,"date":"2013-09-07T16:38:21","date_gmt":"2013-09-07T15:38:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=6397"},"modified":"2013-09-07T16:38:21","modified_gmt":"2013-09-07T15:38:21","slug":"riba-shortlisted-best-new-homes-includes-lb-and-ca-houses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=6397","title":{"rendered":"RIBA shortlisted best new homes includes LB and CA houses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The shortlist for the RIBA Manser Medal 2013, presented for the best new house, includes Crowbrook, a house in a conservation area in a Hertfordshire village, and Astley Castle, Warwickshire, which was developed from a brief from the Landmark Trust to provide a contemporary house within the footprint of the ruins of a 12th century fortified manor destroyed by a fire in 1978<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The RIBA writes<\/span>:<br \/>\nA geometrically playful house in Hampshire; a new build house in Brixton; a fully accessible one-storey home in Hertfordshire; a contemporary redesign of a Grade II* listed manor house and a \u2018California\u2019 style home in The Wirral make up the shortlist for the RIBA Manser Medal 2013 for the best new house, the UK\u2019s pre-eminent private housing design award.<\/p>\n<p>The houses shortlisted for the 2013 RIBA Manser Medal are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Astley Castle, Warwickshire by Witherford Watson Mann Architects<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Crowbrook, Hertfordshire by Knox Bhavan Architects<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Downley House, Petersfield by Birds Portchmouth Russum Architects<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Rockmount, The Wirral by Shed KM<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Slip House, London by Carl Turner Architects<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The RIBA Manser Medal 2013 shortlist has been chosen from winners of RIBA National Awards and RIBA regional awards. The winner will be announced at the RIBA Stirling Prize party on Thursday 26 September in London.
