Environment secretary Owen Paterson said that making environmental guidance easier to find and follow could save businesses more than \u00a31 billion over a decade.<\/p>\n<p>The move is part of the government\u2019s bid to reduce red tape. The government has to date issued more than 5,000 environmental guidance documents, extending in total to more than 100,000 pages. There are 250 separate data reporting requirements for businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Paterson added: \u2018This is not about reducing the quality of environmental regulations. The same protection levels will stay.
