{"id":5644,"date":"2013-04-12T16:18:26","date_gmt":"2013-04-12T16:18:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=5644"},"modified":"2013-04-12T16:18:26","modified_gmt":"2013-04-12T16:18:26","slug":"bre-charged-by-decc-with-researching-heat-loss-in-solid-wall-homes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=5644","title":{"rendered":"BRE charged by DECC with researching heat loss in solid wall homes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">BRE has been appointed by Department of Energy &amp; Climate Change (DECC) to carry out a major new research project to understand heat losses in the seven million solid wall homes in Great Britain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">BRE writes<\/span>:<br \/>\nThe project, funded by the Department of Energy &amp; Climate Change, will consider how these walls are performing before and after insulation. The energy use behaviour of occupants and the accuracy of techniques for measuring heat losses will also be examined.<\/p>\n<p>John Riley, BRE\u2019s Director of Housing Stock Performance said: \u2018Solid wall homes may be significant consumers of energy and this project will allow more accurate predictions of the energy consumption of these homes and identify the potential for energy savings from solid wall insulation.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The study includes a series of laboratory tests and surveys on real homes.
