{"id":5521,"date":"2013-03-08T16:48:35","date_gmt":"2013-03-08T16:48:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=5521"},"modified":"2013-03-08T16:48:35","modified_gmt":"2013-03-08T16:48:35","slug":"nt-loses-challenge-over-county-antrim-golf-resort","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=5521","title":{"rendered":"NT loses challenge over County Antrim golf resort"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The National Trust (NT) has lost its legal challenge over the development of a \u00a3100m golf resort and hotel near the Giant&#8217;s Causeway in County Antrim, Northern Ireland.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The project was approved by environment minister Alex Attwood last year.<\/p>\n<p>High Court judge Mr Justice Weatherup rejected all the National Trust\u2019s grounds of challenge to Attwood&#8217;s decision.<\/p>\n<p>He backed a counter submission by the Department of the Environment that world heritage convention guidelines have no standing in UK law.<\/p>\n<p>Attwood said: \u2018My decision to grant permission was finely balanced but I was strong in my opinion that it was the right decision on the planning merits.
