{"id":543,"date":"2009-07-27T13:55:55","date_gmt":"2009-07-27T13:55:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=543"},"modified":"2010-03-23T13:56:23","modified_gmt":"2010-03-23T13:56:23","slug":"ihbc-urges-sustainable-focus-in-draft-pps15","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=543","title":{"rendered":"IHBC urges sustainable focus in draft PPS15"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) has today welcomed<br \/>\nthe aims of the draft Planning Policy Statement 15; Planning for the<br \/>\nHistoric Environment, to promote inclusion and involvement and support<br \/>\nsustainable communities by putting the historic environment at the heart of<br \/>\nplanning.<\/p>\n<p>IHBC Chair, Dave Chetwyn said:<br \/>\n&#8216;Historic environments have helped towns, cities and rural areas to<br \/>\ntransform over the past few decades, physically and economically. We welcome the aim<br \/>\nof the PPS to place the historic environment at the heart of the planning<br \/>\nsystem. However, to achieve this, we would like to see a far greater appreciation of how historic environments contribute to making sustainable places and low-carbon living; central concerns to planning<\/p>\n<p>It is important to shift the focus from visitors, castles and stately homes<br \/>\nto the vast diversity of historic buildings and places and the way they support modern living.
