It is focussed on ensuring:<\/p>\n<p>1. The industry has the skills to meet its client needs and future challenges.<\/p>\n<p>2. Individuals have the skills to compete for the best jobs and develop successful careers.<\/p>\n<p>3. UK Plc has a construction industry that is world class, can compete with the best on the world stage and make a full contribution to economic growth.<\/p>\n<p>Developed in conjunction with the industry, the Business Plan takes on board Government policy and detailed analysis of the workforce challenges that the sector is grappling with in one of its deepest recessions since the War.<\/p>\n<p>The organisation\u2019s priorities for the next three years are to:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Lead on the UK construction industry\u2019s education, skills and training needs by working in partnership with industry and Government at local and national level; influencing skills and training policy, funding and delivery; and developing standards and qualifications.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Support skills and training in construction by ensuring that Levy funds are invested in the Grant system and activities which make the most difference to construction employers, including promoting Construction and Built Environment careers to keep the talent pipeline flowing and delivering a range of business support services that enable construction businesses to grow.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Providing a wide range of high quality construction skills and training solutions including apprenticeships, direct training, testing, assessment, certification and awards.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Farrar, CEO of CITB-ConstructionSkills said: \u2018For the best part of 50 years, CITB-ConstructionSkills has been working with the construction industry to meet its skills and training needs. Now, in the depths of the downturn, it is essential that we continue to support the industry in developing the highly skilled professionals it needs to meet the immediate challenges and prepare for the future. The Business Plan focuses on the priorities identified through research, our expertise and industry experience and is informed by the Government\u2019s current and emerging policy.
