{"id":5175,"date":"2012-12-07T18:46:43","date_gmt":"2012-12-07T18:46:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=5175"},"modified":"2012-12-07T18:46:43","modified_gmt":"2012-12-07T18:46:43","slug":"englands-regional-resuscitation-leps-planning-capital-spend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=5175","title":{"rendered":"England\u2019s regional resuscitation: LEP\u2019s planning &#038; capital spend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Chancellor George Osborne has unveiled plans to reallocate \u00a35 billion of Whitehall funding to infrastructure projects and ask business-led local enterprise partnerships (LEPS) to produce new strategic plans for local growth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Planning Portal writes<\/span>:<br \/>\nChancellor George Osborne has announced that \u00a35bn saved from Whitehall departmental budgets would be used to boost infrastructure spending and help the delivery of 120,000 new homes.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">In his Autumn Statement he signalled the funding would be used to<\/span>:<\/p>\n<p>1. upgrade key sections of the A1, bringing the route from London to Newcastle up to motorway standard<br \/>\n2. link the A5 with the M1<br \/>\n3. dual the A30 in Cornwall<br \/>\n4. upgrade the M25.<\/p>\n<p>He also announced a \u00a31bn loan and a guarantee to extend London\u2019s Northern Line to Battersea Power Station and support a new development on a similar scale to the Olympic Park.<\/p>\n<p>This news was welcomed by London Mayor Boris Johnson.
