{"id":5111,"date":"2012-11-30T18:06:49","date_gmt":"2012-11-30T18:06:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=5111"},"modified":"2012-11-30T18:06:49","modified_gmt":"2012-11-30T18:06:49","slug":"challenge-to-london-bridge-station-fails","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=5111","title":{"rendered":"Challenge to London Bridge station fails"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The planning decision on Costain and Grimshaw station revamp to stand after the judge dismissed a bid for a judicial review.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Community group Bermondsey Village Action Group (BVAG) applied to the High Court for permission to launch a judicial review challenge against the grant of planning permission for the redevelopment of London Bridge Station.<\/p>\n<p>BVAG claimed that the London Borough of Southwark (LBS) and the Mayor of London Boris Johnson failed to follow planning policy and the procedure for heritage and the environment, which it claims will lead to \u2018irreplaceable railway heritage\u2019 being lost.<\/p>\n<p>The challenge by BVAG was against the four decisions by each of the defendants, LBS, the Mayor of London, the Secretary of State and English Heritage, which led to the grant of planning consent by LBS for the proposed redevelopment.<\/p>\n<p>The community group&#8217;s challenge requests that the High Court issue an order that would quash the grant of planning consent for the proposed redevelopment and for the subsidiary applications for listed building consent and conservation area consent.<\/p>\n<p>The community group is opposed to the demolition of heritage buildings and has campaigned for the buildings to be integrated into a revised scheme.<\/p>\n<p>The group claimed that LBS \u2018erroneously\u2019 accepted Network Rail&#8217;s reasons for demolition of listed buildings and as such, the reasons for demolition that it put forward to its planning committee were \u2018invalid and without proper scrutiny\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Out-law.com Article<\/span>: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.out-law.com\/en\/articles\/2012\/june\/london-bridge-development-subject-to-high-court-challenge-by-community-group\/\" target=\"_blank\">LINK<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Building Co UK News<\/span>: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.building.co.uk\/5046538.article?origin=bldgdailynewsletter\" target=\"_blank\">LINK<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Search Planning Portal<\/span>: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.planningportal.gov.uk\/general\/news\/stories\/2012\/nov12\/291112\/291112_6\" target=\"_blank\">LINK <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The planning decision on Costain and Grimshaw station revamp to stand after the judge dismissed a bid for a judicial review.
