{"id":4865,"date":"2012-10-12T16:04:23","date_gmt":"2012-10-12T16:04:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=4865"},"modified":"2012-10-12T16:04:23","modified_gmt":"2012-10-12T16:04:23","slug":"cms-committee-seeks-evidence-on-creative-economy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=4865","title":{"rendered":"CMS Committee seeks evidence on creative economy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Culture, Media and Sport Committee launches a new inquiry into support for the creative economy, including \u2018design\u2019 with submissions to be received no later than Friday 2 November 2012.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Committee is inviting written submissions and requesting views on issues that include:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Barriers to growth in the creative industries\u2014such as difficulties in accessing private finance\u2014and the ways in which Government policy should address them. Whether lack of co-ordination between government departments inhibits this sector;<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 The extent to which taxation supports the growth of the creative economy, including whether it would be desirable to extend the tax reliefs targeted at certain sectors in the 2012 Budget;<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Ways to establish a strong skills base to support the creative economy, including the role of further and higher education in this;<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 The work of the Creative Industries Council and other public bodies responsible for supporting the sector.<\/p>\n<p>The Committee wishes to focus on particular sectors as examples of the creative industries, especially the film, music, television, design and games sectors.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> UK Parliament News<\/span>: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.parliament.uk\/business\/committees\/committees-a-z\/commons-select\/culture-media-and-sport-committee\/news\/support-for-creative-economy-call-for-evidence\/\" target=\"_blank\">LINK<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Culture, Media and Sport Committee launches a new inquiry into support for the creative economy, including \u2018design\u2019 with submissions to be received no later than Friday 2 November 2012.
