Jo Watson writes, for the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP):<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past five years as Head of Corporate Partnerships at ISEP, I’ve had the privilege of speaking to organisations of all sizes about one common challenge\u2026 the question I hear time and again is: \u2018How do we turn our sustainability strategy into action across the whole organisation?\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That question was at the heart of a recent ISEP Educate & Elevate webinar delivered to ISEP Corporate Partners… Although we came from different organisations, we kept coming back to the same conclusion: successful sustainability strategies are built on capable people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026 What I heard throughout the discussion was how similar the challenges are, regardless of sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sustainability isn’t a strategy problem<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the biggest takeaways for me was that most organisations don’t have a strategy problem. They have a capability problem<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organisations generally know what they want to achieve. The real challenge is ensuring their people have the knowledge, confidence and capability to deliver it… Real progress happens when sustainability becomes everyone’s responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carbon Literacy is an excellent place to start<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Learning shouldn’t stop with Carbon Literacy<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sustainability belongs in Learning and Development<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the strongest messages from Heidi Barnard was that sustainability learning shouldn’t sit solely with sustainability teams. Instead, organisations should embed it within their wider Learning and Development strategy\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Small actions really do make a difference<\/p>\n\n\n\n
