{"id":47751,"date":"2026-08-22T11:15:52","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T10:15:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=47751"},"modified":"2026-08-22T11:15:52","modified_gmt":"2026-08-22T10:15:52","slug":"ihbc-calls-for-sign-up-to-uk-wide-survey-of-heritage-workers-who-use-science-and-technology-led-by-riches-icon-to-31-august","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=47751","title":{"rendered":"IHBC calls for sign-up to UK-wide survey of heritage workers who \u2018use science and technology\u2019: Led by RICHeS &#038; Icon, to 31 August"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Research Infrastructure for Conservation and Heritage Science (RICHeS) has commissioned Icon to undertake the first ever UK-wide survey of the heritage and conservation science workforce, and if \u2018use science and technology in your work\u2019 we need your help to make it count by signing up, open to 31\/08.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk\/s\/icon\/heritage-and-conservation-science-workforce-survey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Complete the Heritage and Conservation Science Workforce Survey<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Caroline Peach writes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Institute of Conservation, with support from the National Heritage Science Forum, is leading the UK&#8217;s first research into the composition of the heritage and conservation science workforce on behalf of the Art &amp; Humanities Research Council&#8217;s Research Infrastructure for Conservation and Heritage Science (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.riches.ukri.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RICHeS<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are seeking input to this research from members of IHBC who use science and technology in their work by completion of a 20 minute survey available at this link: <a href=\"https:\/\/app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk\/s\/icon\/heritage-and-conservation-science-workforce-survey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk\/s\/icon\/heritage-and-conservation-science-workforce-survey<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People who use science and technology in their work with heritage come from many different disciplinary backgrounds and are employed in a variety of contexts. The lack of an evidence-based picture of who makes up the workforce, their skills, training and equipment needs, emerging areas of practice and demand for services limits the ability to support the workforce and advocate for its needs.
