{"id":4735,"date":"2012-09-14T15:10:43","date_gmt":"2012-09-14T15:10:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=4735"},"modified":"2012-09-14T15:16:14","modified_gmt":"2012-09-14T15:16:14","slug":"clg-committee-seeks-guidance-on-scrutiny-of-ministers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=4735","title":{"rendered":"CLG Committee seeks guidance on scrutiny of ministers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Communities and Local Government Parliamentary Committee will take evidence from the new ministers at the Department for Communities and Local Government with responsibility for planning and housing on 15 October, and are seeking evidence to inform the questions to be raised during this session, with submissions of no more than 2000 words invited by 28 September 2012.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The CLG Committee writes<\/span>:<br \/>\nThe session will focus on the Ministers\u2019 new responsibilities and the package of proposals announced by the Government on 6 September to boost house-building, jobs and the economy. On that day the Prime Minster, Deputy Prime Minister and the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government set out a package of planning and housing proposals to improve the housing market and boost the wider economy.<\/p>\n<p>To inform the questions raised during this session the Committee invites stakeholders to submit limited written evidence addressing any of the following topics.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 How the package of proposed measures will contribute to the Government\u2019s ambition to provide communities with a greater say about development in their area?<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 What the economic and wider impacts\u2014such as on the provision of social housing\u2014will be of the proposed changes to speed up the planning process and to allow revisions to section 106 agreements?<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 What will be the impact on the Planning Inspectorate and local planning authorities of the proposed changes intended to speed up the planning process and to allow section 106 agreements to be re-assessed?<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 What will be the impact of the proposed changes to the rules on permitted development intended to make it easier to undertake home improvements such as house extensions?<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 How the use of Planning Performance Agreements and greater powers to award costs in planning appeals will affect the planning process?<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 How planning authorities should be able to adjust Green Belt land?<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 How the Government\u2019s review of national and local standards should be carried out and what focus should it have?<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 What the impact is of the proposal to get empty commercial buildings into use?<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Whether the Government\u2019s financial incentives to increase investment in private rented housing provide the most effective solution to delivering housing in this sector?<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Whether the Government\u2019s proposals to provide easier access to mortgages are feasible and will get people on to, and moving up, the housing ladder?<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 What is the feasibility and what will be the impacts of the Government\u2019s plans to accelerate the delivery of major housing sites?<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 How feasible are the Government\u2019s measures to release surplus public sector land to developers and how might they influence the supply of housing?<\/p>\n<p>The Committee is also interested to hear about the implications for local authorities and for the planning system of the Government\u2019s proposal to make it easier for communications providers to install equipment to provide broadband services.<\/p>\n<p>Evidence should be submitted in the form of short written memoranda (maximum 2,500 words) no later than 10 am on Friday 28 September 2012 by email to <a href=\"mailto:clgev@parliament.uk \" target=\"_blank\">clgev@parliament.uk <\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">For the statement of 6 September see<\/span>: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.communities.gov.uk\/statements\/newsroom\/2211838 \" target=\"_blank\">LINK <\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">For the proposal to make it easier for communications providers to install equipment to provide broadband services see<\/span>: <a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=4735\" target=\"_blank\">LINK1\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=4733\" target=\"_blank\">LINK2<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">UK Parliament News<\/span>: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.parliament.uk\/business\/committees\/committees-a-z\/commons-select\/communities-and-local-government-committee\/news\/planning-and-housing---ev-session\/\" target=\"_blank\">LINK<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Communities and Local Government Parliamentary Committee will take evidence from the new ministers at the Department for Communities and Local Government with responsibility for planning and housing on 15 October, and are seeking evidence to inform the questions to &hellip;
