This blog was developed to provide you with regular updates on preservation progress and insights into various project aspects, including information on the talented people doing the work.

After three years of careful work, the World Heritage Preserved project at Fallingwater is now complete. With the project finished, the scaffolding and enclosures that surrounded the house have been removed. The opening of Fallingwater’s 2026 tour season, on March 14th, also marks this milestone. There is still a little work to finish, but this will happen overnight and on Wednesdays when Fallingwater is closed to the public. Edgar Kaufmann Sr.’s Terrace will remain temporarily closed while we finalize masonry repointing in that area. In early spring, painting and window conservation will be finished as weather permits.

A preserved, renewed Fallingwater welcomes visitors for tours. You can also check out the live cam for a view of Fallingwater without the scaffolding. We are excited to share this next chapter of Fallingwater with you!

To watch a short video from Fallingwater Director Justin Gunther where he explains how various projects over the past few years have ensured the long-term preservation of this landmark, one inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List go to the link below:

https://fallingwater.org/projects/world-heritage-preservation/

image for illustration: Fallingwater, Carol M.
