IHBC\u2019s 2026 Day School, broadcasting from Newcastle on 19 June, boasts The Royal Town Planning Institute<\/a> (RTPI) as our School \u2018Friend\u2019, offering reduced Virtual School rates to RTPI members as delegates while delegates will hear from former RTPI President Timothy David Crawshaw<\/a> as he responds to a busy day of IHBC CPD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

On the IHBC\u2019s 2026 School \u2018Friendship\u2019 with the RTPI, John Sturzaker FRTPI, RTPI\u2019s Director of Careers and Education, said: \u2018The RTPI is very pleased to be collaborating with the IHBC on the 2026 annual school, and beyond.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Adapting and reusing historic buildings is a theme of great relevance to members of both Institutes so it is great that RTPI members are benefiting from discounted attendance at the virtual school.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018We look forward to great discussions at the school, and ongoing collaborations between IHBC and RTPI.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, Tim said: \u2018I am delighted to be joining this important Day School and supporting the work of the IHBC and its membership.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018I am passionate about the creative and sensitive re-use of historic buildings as the sustainable and culturally enhancing choice, and IHBC members are ideally placed to promote and regulate this activity.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018The historic environment is a key psychological foothold in the experience of places and the re-use of assets retains these as key landmarks that support wayfinding, orientation and feelings of belonging.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Se\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018The IHBC\u2019s School \u2018Friends\u2019 initiative ensures that we cultivate links with and perspectives from lead bodies in the management and care of our built and historic environment.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018For 2026, we’re delighted to welcome the RTPI, and hear first-hand thoughts \u2013 personal and professional \u2013 from Timothy David Crawshaw<\/a>, former President of the RTPI and Planning and Development Consultant.  Tim has kindly \u2013 indeed enthusiastically \u2013 agreed to join us on the day, and offer his own take at the end of the main programme.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Se\u00e1n continued: \u2018The 2026 association between the IHBC and RTPI will extend to the IHBC\u2019s Yearbook<\/a>, as RTPI President Jan Bessell<\/a> has agreed to write its foreword.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NB: IHBC\u2019s <\/em><\/strong>2026 Newcastle School<\/em><\/strong><\/a> has closed to in-person delegates, but the Virtual <\/em><\/strong>Day School<\/em><\/strong><\/a> is still open for booking<\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
