in advance of a light-touch survey &#8211; all part of our <\/em>response to our Parliamentary \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=45006\">5 Commitments to Help Heritage Skills in Conservation<\/a>\u2026\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>IHBC Director Se\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018At Council we had a very tight timetable.&nbsp; While that feature was welcomed by many, it did mean we had to move rapidly.&nbsp; So we\u2019re doing a suite of NewsBlog spotlights on some key resources from the day, where we can.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018As you know, IHBC\u2019s Council is a members only, live event, which helps the \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chathamhouse.org\/about-us\/chatham-house-rule\">Chatham House<\/a>\u2019-styled discussions, so we can\u2019t make all public.&nbsp; But of course, where we can do that, by agreement, we will.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this NewsBlog we\u2019re spotlighting the concise commentary and paper from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/adam-dyer-4b342658\">Adam Dyer<\/a>, Conservation Team Manager, London Borough of Camden, on the \u2018London Councils on London Retrofit Heritage Homes Guide: <em>\u2018Green upgrades for<\/em> <em>London\u2019s heritage homes\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Including links to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.londoncouncils.gov.uk\/news-and-press-releases\/2025\/preserving-past-powering-future-green-upgrades-londons-heritage-homes\">press notice<\/a>, Adam\u2019s paper offers some personal context to a project that, as Adam writes, \u2018links to the London Councils Heritage Retrofit Work [that] pulled together Sustainability, Planning and Conservation Officers along with Etude, Levitt Bernstein and Prewett Bizley.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adam also notes that \u2018The project was not perfect, and I had bigger ambitious for it, but time and a restricted budget prevented more external engagement.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also in the paper, as a key output of the work, is a link to \u2018How to assess retrofit measures\u2019, described by Adam as \u2018a document that went through a lot of scrutiny but has been found to be useful for Planners who are assessing applications in conservation areas where there aren&#8217;t enough Conservation Officers to provide advice to all small scale minor applications.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See Adam Dyer\u2019s paper on \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/a070a4d0cff28adddef6cffe7\/files\/41a2c02b-06ee-7ff8-260f-0d94ad69e499\/IHBC_rsquo_s_Council_8_April_2026_Submitted_Paper_Adam_Dyer.pdf\">London Councils on London Retrofit Heritage Homes Guide: <em>\u2018Green upgrades for<\/em> <em>London\u2019s heritage homes\u2019<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See more on the IHBC council at: <a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=46376\">Top marks for IHBC\u2019s latest Council as LA Conservation service talks, papers &amp;
