{"id":46351,"date":"2026-04-14T16:01:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T15:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=46351"},"modified":"2026-04-13T11:11:31","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T10:11:31","slug":"dwp-consults-on-merger-of-training-bodies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=46351","title":{"rendered":"DWP consults on merger of training bodies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has launched an open consultation on `Industry Training Board Reform\u2019, including the merger of training bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Government Uk writes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This consultation seeks views on the government\u2019s proposal to bring together the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) and the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) to create a single, unified Industry Training Board (ITB) to act on behalf of the construction and engineering construction sectors. The consultation also seeks initial views on 2 areas for future ITB reform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This consultation is principally aimed at the construction and engineering construction sectors. We particularly welcome responses from:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>construction and engineering construction employers registered for the CITB and ECITB levies in England, Scotland and Wales<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>employer and workforce representative bodies for these sectors, including ITB prescribed organisations and trade unions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We also welcome feedback from other parties with an interest in construction and engineering construction skills including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>local and regional government bodies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>businesses in related sectors that rely on these skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>colleges and other apprenticeship, training and qualification providers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>organisations supporting the training of people in the construction and engineering construction industries with special educational needs and disabilities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We are consulting separately with the Devolved Governments of Scotland and Wales. Northern Ireland has its own levy-raising CITB, which is a separate entity and does not form part of this consultation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Purpose of the consultation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government proposes to establish a single, unified Industry Training Board, which would serve the combined construction and engineering construction sectors, currently supported by the CITB and ECITB.
