The mission of the In Varietate Concordia Columns is to highlight new and diverse perspectives on the key priorities that should define our path forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Who should apply?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We strongly encourage participation from across all European countries and diverse fields of expertise. This call is aimed at:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Leading professionals, researchers, and policy-makers in the culture and heritage sector and beyond.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Individuals working at the intersection of culture and Europe\u2019s \u2018triple transformation\u2019 (social, green, and digital).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Young voices, emerging thinkers, and citizens who want to share their vision for the future of Europe.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Our main topics of interest<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are looking for original, previously unpublished short-form columns or long-form articles that explore the vital relationship between culture and democratic values. Contributions might address topics such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Safeguarding freedom of expression, critical thinking, and artistic freedom.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fostering unity, resilience, and social cohesion in times of polarisation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leveraging heritage for climate action, sustainability, and regional development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Navigating cultural identity in an era of digital transformation and global exchange.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promoting equal access to culture and protecting cultural rights for a fairer society.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>How to submit<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This open call will remain open throughout the entire duration of the European Heritage Hub Preparatory Action. Here, you will find detailed information on submission requirements, our Editorial Board, and selection criteria, as well as a curated reading list to inspire your writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selected articles will be officially spotlighted on the European Heritage Hub website, providing a central platform for your ideas within the European cultural community. Furthermore, we aim to leverage our strong network of partners to champion your voices in prominent media outlets across our City Hubs (Lisbon, Nicosia, Athens, and Krak\u00f3w) and at the national and European levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>About In Varietate Concordia<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This Open Call is part of the In Varietate Concordia initiative, launched by the EU-funded European Heritage Hub and coordinated by Europa Nostra and the Centro Nacional de Cultura, with the support of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Inspired by the European Union\u2019s motto \u2018United in Diversity\u2019, the initiative promotes live conversations, the production of a series of podcasts and the publication of opinion articles with the aim of stimulating critical thinking, fostering public debate and encouraging action in defence of Europe\u2019s fundamental values such as democracy, justice, equality, solidarity and sustainability.
