We know that they are full of enthusiasm and ideas for ways to make their neighbourhoods look and feel better and we are here to help. Our new programme, Design Your Neighbourhood, will fund the provision of design expertise and support to a small number of communities and help them turn ideas into action. It will help to improve design for neighbourhoods, housing, other buildings and public space such as streets and parks.<\/p>\n<p>We are now accepting applications. The deadline is 20 August 2012.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">How it works<\/span><br \/>\nDesign Your Neighbourhood works by linking community groups to local design partners that provide expertise in architecture, planning and\/or urban design. Design support equal to a value of up to approximately \u00a310,000 will be provided to each project. The programme runs from September 2012 to March 2013.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Who can apply<\/span>?<br \/>\nDesign Your Neighbourhood is open to applications from local community groups. This includes neighbourhood forums, civic societies, residents associations, community trusts, town and parish councils and similar types of non-profit organisations.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">To be eligible, your community group should<\/span>:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Operate in a specific neighbourhood (this could be a particular town, village, street, estate or other defined area)<br \/>\n\u00b7 Be in England<br \/>\n\u00b7 Be non-profit making<br \/>\n\u00b7 Be formally constituted (e.g. a registered charity or community trust).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">What types of project will we support<\/span>?<br \/>\nWe will fund design support for community-led projects that improve the design of neighbourhoods, buildings, streets, parks or other public spaces. We are looking for projects that go beyond detailed designs for a particular building or space, to consider the wider role of design in transforming a neighbourhood. Your project must have a strong public benefit.
