{"id":44806,"date":"2025-12-05T16:59:46","date_gmt":"2025-12-05T16:59:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=44806"},"modified":"2025-12-05T16:59:46","modified_gmt":"2025-12-05T16:59:46","slug":"the-heritage-alliance-on-what-the-autumn-budget-means-for-the-heritage-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=44806","title":{"rendered":"The Heritage Alliance on \u2018What the Autumn Budget Means for the Heritage Sector\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the Autumn Budget The Heritage Alliance (THA) has developed a briefing providing an analysis of the most significant announcements within the budget for our sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">THA writes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Key Announcements Include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The National Living Wage (NLW) will increase by 4.1% to \u00a312.71 and the National Minimum Wage (NMW) will increase by 8.5% to \u00a310.85 per hour.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Full funding for apprenticeships for eligible people under 25 in small and medium sized enterprises.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recruitment of an extra 350 planners in England.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A new Local Growth Fund and Mayoral Revolving Growth Fund to unlock place-based investment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New powers for Mayors to create Overnight Visitor Levies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A \u2018High Value Council Tax Surcharge\u2019, with charges from \u00a32,500-\u00a37,500 per year for properties valued over \u00a32m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Permanently lower business rates for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses, offset by higher rates for properties with a rateable value over \u00a3500k.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A new spousal transfer for the \u00a31 million IHT relief on agricultural property and business property.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a deeper dive into the themes of the budget, see our member events section for details of two opportunities to share and learn more about this fiscal event.
