{"id":4456,"date":"2012-07-13T16:56:44","date_gmt":"2012-07-13T16:56:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=4456"},"modified":"2012-07-13T17:12:34","modified_gmt":"2012-07-13T17:12:34","slug":"ihbc-accreditation-featured-in-care-newsletter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=4456","title":{"rendered":"IHBC accreditation featured in CARE Newsletter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Newsletter of the Conservation Accreditation Register for Engineers \u2013 CARE \u2013 features the IHBC alongside RIBA, AABC and CARE as the primary conservation accreditation schemes for built environment professionals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In the current Newsletter CARE editor Jon Avent covers the principal accreditation schemes operated for professionally qualified individuals working in the built heritage sector \u2013 RIBA, AABC, CARE, and IHBC. He notes that the IHBC scheme \u2018is different to the accreditation schemes operated by the principal professions of Architecture, Engineering and Surveying\u2019, and that \u2018it does provide a significant membership and skills base which is recognised across a wide range of built heritage professionals.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The IHBC\u2019s scheme has an inter-disciplinary competence underpinned by ICOMOS standards and the World Bank\u2019s environmental project management model. The IHBC\u2019s quality assurance of its professional membership standards is recognised by bodies as diverse as the Planning Inspectorate and BRE.<\/p>\n<p>IHBC Director Sean O\u2019Reilly writes of the IHBC\u2019s scheme: \u2018If applicants do not demonstrate competence in their primary discipline, they cannot satisfy the demands of IHBC accreditation\u2026&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Unlike other professional bodies, the IHBC does not re-accredit members, but operates a disciplinary process tied to a Code of Conduct that provides a continual monitoring of conservation standards in accredited members.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Like others systems, the IHBC does not accredit businesses, but it does \u2018recognise\u2019 them through a quality-assurance listing called HESPR.
