It will be presented by Professor John Edwards, and Professor Richard Fitton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>John Edwards said: \u2018The \u2018<em>BS 40104: 2025: Retrofit Assessment for Domestic Dwellings \u2013 Code of Practice<\/em>\u2019, is designed to be applied to all types of dwellings, including those of traditional construction and any building with special protection due to their heritage values.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018At last a British Standard on how to properly conduct a retrofit assessment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m pleased to have been part of a most knowledgeable group of experts led by Professor Richard Fitton and grateful for the excellent input from Peter Draper of the STBA and Joanne Williams of Historic England on the heritage work stream\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>John Edwards writes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>BS 40104 <\/em>covers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>context assessment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>condition assessment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ventilation assessment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>occupancy assessment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>energy performance assessment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>site-specific context assessment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>significance assessment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>reporting and lodgement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It was initially envisaged that BS 40104 would replace the sections on retrofit assessment in PAS 2035, AKA the UK standard on retrofitting dwellings, but this is now uncertain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The whole document is relevant to buildings of traditional construction and all with heritage values and according to Professor Edwards: \u2018This is a robust common-sense document that will hopefully ensure that a much better approach is taken to all building types\u2019.
