All IHBC members will receive a personal email invitation from IHBC President Rebecca Thompson<\/a> to attend the next virtual meeting of IHBC\u2019s Council, from 4.30pm on Wednesday 8 October, with a newly revised programme featuring \u2018Heritage Skills and the Conservation Professional\u2019 alongside updates on Charter Petitions, planning, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Rebecca Thompson<\/a> IHBC President and chair of Council said: \u2018All IHBC members, across every category, are welcome to Council, the IHBC\u2019s inclusive advisory and training body where members can join in shaping our activities and plans.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Please join us for free online CPD this time too, as the IHBC takes a closer look at the practice of the Conservation Professional in the context of Heritage Skills.  We will also outline new plans to explore how we can best serve all our members following approval for a Charter application<\/a>.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018As ever, there will be a chance to raise your own suggestions, queries & quandaries about IHBC and related Council matters and activities.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IHBC Director Dr Sean O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018The IHBC\u2019s case for a Charter was founded first on our unique structural approach to the regulation of members\u2019 interdisciplinary practice as Conservation Professionals.  Our case was underpinned by the rigour of our regulatory procedures, and reinforced by the strength of member and sector support for our work.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018We are of course delighted that the PCO accepted our suitability for a Charter, just as it acknowledged the wider public benefit inherent in both the IHBC\u2019s own corporate priorities and the conservation work of our members.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018To mark that recognition, the next Council will introduce some select connections between our members\u2019 work and, specifically, the Heritage Skills agenda.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018This will help all explore how the heritage skills resource is so important to us as Conservation Professionals.  In part that is because, as a public benefit, it is important to everyone.  In part too, it is a critical consideration across our members\u2019 practice and aspirations.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018This Council will also outline some of the steps we are taking to make sure we reflect members needs and priorities over the coming months and years, Most especially, we want to ensure our Council has the support and infrastructure needed to take full advantage of the new opportunities our charter exploration has already secured.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IHBC\u2019s Council is the IHBC\u2019s inclusive advisory and training body, open to all IHBC members. All members can join in shaping our activities and plans, as we widen further the involvement of our members in the IHBC\u2019s future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
