{"id":4400,"date":"2012-07-06T15:09:18","date_gmt":"2012-07-06T15:09:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=4400"},"modified":"2012-07-06T15:09:18","modified_gmt":"2012-07-06T15:09:18","slug":"improved-grants-scheme-94m-for-construction-training","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=4400","title":{"rendered":"Improved grants scheme: \u00a394M for construction training"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Construction firms stand to gain thousands of pounds in training grants as CITB-ConstructionSkills overhauls its funding scheme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Improvements to the construction industry training body\u2019s 2012-2013 Grants Scheme will see the level of grants paid out to firms increasing in many areas.<\/p>\n<p>These include:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 payments for three year and four year apprenticeship packages increasing from \u00a39,000 to \u00a310,250<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 grants for two year apprenticeship package being increased from \u00a35,200 to \u00a36,000 and<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 grants for achieving qualifications will be increased from \u00a3275 to \u00a3400<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 the premium of \u00a3250 for achieving Vocational Qualifications at level 4 and above will be increased from August 1 resulting in a grant of \u00a3650 for attaining a VQ<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 introduction of a new grant of \u00a350 per day for trainees following degree, BTEC, HNC and similar courses<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 an increase in the daily attendance grant rate from \u00a317.50 to \u00a322.50 for each days training.<\/p>\n<p>The new arrangements will come into force on 1 August this year, and were drawn up following a detailed consultation with industry and trade federation representatives by the Grants Scheme Working Party and the Training Committee.<\/p>\n<p>CITB-ConstructionSkills CEO Mark Farrar said: \u2018We have been working closely with industry and trade federations to ensure that the Grants Scheme is a responsive as possible to their needs. The changes are designed to ease some of the pressure on training budgets during the difficult economic conditions that firms are facing at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We recognise when times are hard firms are forced to look at the bottom line of the balance sheet and they can often feel training is an added expense. However it is in these times that investing in training is more important than ever to help ensure we avoid a skills shortfall when the industry returns to growth. We are determined to do all we can to help business succeed and grow, and I would urge firms to visit to our website to find out whether they are eligible for grant funding and how to claim.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>CITB-ConstructionSkills will be writing to all employers in July 2012 with details of the new arrangements. To qualify for payment from the 2012\/2013 Grants Scheme employers must have completed and submitted their Levy Returns by 31 July 2012.
