IHBC Director Sean O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018Our IHBC NewsBlog<\/em> posts regularly review the diverse career opportunities in heritage, conservation and related areas, all as posted on our IHBC Jobs etc<\/em><\/a> service.\u00a0 This round continues to demonstrate the ever-increasing variety of roles that employers are looking to us to for help to fill, and the many ways we try to help conservation skills and outcomes.\u2019

\u2018And an especially welcome sign of the successful of our service is the arrival this round of our first post from a Council in Ireland, with Wexford County Council\u2019s call for an \u2018Executive Architectural Conservation Officer\u2019, with a salary to \u20ac82K too!

Of course the legislative infrastructure and policy there are different to those in the UK.\u00a0 But critically, for any IHBC members\u2019 role in Ireland, the variations for UK-accredited members working there not substantially different from those faced in working under different devolved governments in UK.\u00a0 This is because the IHBC\u2019s conservation accreditation is underpinned by commonly-recognised international practice standards, even if ours carries a unique interface with interdisciplinary practices as noted below.\u2019

\u2018For our NewsBlog<\/em> readers this round though, we are continuing our particular focus on charity jobs, a user group to which we offer our most generous subsidies, from c.25%, and that\u2019s only to start!\u2019

\u2018As regular readers know, career opportunities on IHBC<\/em> Jobs<\/em> etc.<\/em><\/a> typically range widely across sectors, skills, employers, locations and roles.\u00a0 However all reflect a common objective and strategy: in order to secure the person they need, employers target IHBC members, their skills and our wide-ranging networks.\u00a0 That reflects the role the IHBC\u2019s model of conservation skills and competence \u2013 our Conservation Cycle \u2013 plays in assessing the competences, and the potential, of candidates.\u2019

\u2018As the current round of posts marks an another uptick in opportunities for our IHBC member networks, I am delighted to highlight again our direct financial support for conservation posts on our service.\u2019

Charity employers in this round that could access the 25% advertising fee subsidies by offering conservation-led roles include the War Memorials Trust\u2019s Conservation Officer, the Churches Conservation Trust\u2019s Estate Officer North (Maternity cover), Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust\u2019s Principal Historic Buildings Officer and, potentially Fitzwilliam Wentworth Estate\u2019s Assistant Building Surveyor, but only if operating through its Charitable company.

Church bodies advertising directly with us also can access these same charity-linked reductions.\u00a0 Those qualifying this round include Gloucester\u2019s Church Buildings Officer and St Andrew Boreham\u2019s \u2018Architectural Led Design Team Tender Brief\u2019 as well as archaeology role from the Salisbury Cathedral, the \u2018Freelance Archaeologist Opportunity\u2019.

Interestingly as regards value for money, for both of these last, our Jobs etc<\/em> costs for advertising projects are justified even before the risk management benefits that trustees\u2019 normally should value in the service.

The IHBC\u2019s subsidised support for conservation doesn\u2019t end with charities.\u00a0 Subject to relevant job titles and job descriptions, we also offer subsidies of up to 10% for \u2018jobs specifying conservation and heritage accreditations\u2019.\u00a0 These reductions can be accessed by public and private sector employers.

To start, employers from the public sector and private sectors could access a 10% fee reduction simply based on a role title linked to \u2018Conservation\u2019.\u00a0 This time these include calls by Dacorum BC for a Lead Conservation Officer and NE Derbyshire DC for a Conservation Officer as well as Fareham BC for a Conservation Planner.

With the right specification of conservation, accreditation and skills, public jobs with a more general heritage focus also can qualify for some reductions.\u00a0 So Kensington and Chelsea\u2019s Design and Heritage Officer also could secure reductions if it satisfied those constraints.
Private sector employers also may secure reductions subject to similar job descriptions and specifications.\u00a0 This round these could include Donald Insall Associates\u2019 Researcher\/Assistant Researcher, the Pegasus Group\u2019s Senior \/ Principal Heritage Consultant, James Mackintosh Architects calls for a Senior Architectural Technician.

That relief is also possible on RPS\u2019s substantial call for 3 \u2018Built Heritage Team\u2019 roles, while there we also offer savings when multiple posts are advertised.
