IHBC Director Sean O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018Our IHBC NewsBlog<\/em> posts regularly review the diverse career opportunities in heritage, conservation and related areas, all as posted on our IHBC Jobs etc<\/em><\/a> service.  This round continues to demonstrate the ever-increasing variety of roles that employers are looking to us to for help to fill, and the many ways we try to help conservation skills and outcomes.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018For our NewsBlog<\/em> readers here, we are continuing our particular focus on charity jobs, a user group to which we offer our most generous subsidies, from c.25%, and that\u2019s only to start!\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018As regular readers know, career opportunities on IHBC<\/em> Jobs<\/em> etc.<\/em><\/a> typically range widely across sectors, skills, employers, locations and roles.  However all reflect a common objective and strategy: in order to secure the person they need, employers target IHBC members, their skills and our wide-ranging networks.  That reflects the role the IHBC\u2019s model of conservation skills and competence \u2013 our Conservation Cycle \u2013 plays in assessing the competences, and the potential, of candidates.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018As the current round of posts marks an another uptick in opportunities for our IHBC member networks, I am delighted to highlight again our direct financial support for conservation posts on our service.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charity employers in this round that could access the 25% advertising fee subsidies by offering conservation-led roles include SAVE Britain\u2019s Heritage\u2019s Paid Internships; The Royal Parks (TRP)\u2019s Head of Projects \u2013 Capital Projects, Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust\u2019s Principal Historic Buildings Officer, The Landmark Trust\u2019s Regional Surveyor \/ Architect (North & North Wales), Leicester Heritage Buildings Trust\u2019s Heritage Development Trust Project Officer and the National Churches Trust\u2019s posts of Grants Manager and Interim Support Officer (Treasure Ireland Project).  As an exempt charity the University of Oxford\u2019s call for a Heritage & Buildings Advisor is also able to access this scale of reduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Church bodies advertising directly with us also can access these same charity-linked reductions.  Those qualifying this round include Diocese of Lichfield for its call for a DAC Casework Officer (List B) and the Diocese of Gloucester\u2019s call for a Church Buildings Officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The IHBC\u2019s subsidised support for conservation doesn\u2019t end with charities.  Subject to relevant job titles and job descriptions, we also offer subsidies of up to 10% for \u2018jobs specifying conservation and heritage accreditations\u2019.  These reductions can be accessed by public and private sector employers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To start, employers from the public sector and private sectors could access a 10% fee reduction simply based on a role title linked to \u2018Conservation\u2019.  This time these include calls by the Peak District National Park, for a Building Conservation Officer; Bromsgrove DC and Redditch BC\u2019s post of a Conservation Officer, and Kirklees Council\u2019s Senior Conservation Officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the right specification of conservation, accreditation and skills, public jobs with a more general heritage focus also can qualify for some reductions.  So both Plymouth City Council, calling for an Historic Environment Officer and Historic England, seeking an Inspector of Historic Buildings and Areas, could secure reductions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Private sector employers also may secure reductions subject to job descriptions and specifications.  This round these could include RPS\u2019s Built Heritage Team (3 roles), the Fitzwilliam Wentworth Estate\u2019s Assistant Building Surveyor, Place Services\u2019 Built Heritage Consultant, Purcell\u2019s Assistant Heritage Consultant or Heritage Consultant (North), and AB Heritage\u2019s Heritage Consultant or Senior Heritage Consultant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course where employers are members of IHBC\u2019s HESPR<\/a> scheme, they also get one Jobs etc<\/em> post free each year (transferable too!), so why not check out which if the above are HESPR members, and look at the scheme to see if it suits you too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This round of posts offers sound evidence on how our service \u2013 and the subsidies it offers \u2013 helps make a real impact on conservation-related matters, regardless of sector, disciple or level. At the same time, these postings confirm just how cost-effective the IHBC\u2019s Jobs etc<\/em> service actually is for anyone smart enough to take advantage.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
