These are the last few days before booking closes on the IHBC\u2019s 2012 School in Winchester.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 2012 IHBC School is an especially critical event for all historic environment and conservation specialists because its theme, \u2018Significance\u2019, is centre stage in England’s heritage sector thanks to the country’s current ‘stripped down’ national planning policy. For built environment interests across the UK, understanding the concept of significance – and its relation to overarching principles such as ‘special interest’ – is the key to any creative responses to the increasingly diverse values that people attach to their places.<\/p>\n

Theme & CPD<\/span>
\nThe 2012 School examines \u2018Significance\u2019, including associated principles such as \u2018special interest\u2019 and the processes for assessing value. This provides a unique and especially timely programme of CPD \u2013 up to 18 hours, depending on personal CPD priorities \u2013 designed to cater for all specialists that have roles in shaping places.<\/p>\n

Day School<\/span>
\nThe Day School brings together speakers from diverse specialist backgrounds to explain and explore how we assess and protect significance in buildings, landscapes and sites, and to consider how we might improve those processes for the future. It includes access to a wide range of exhibitors.<\/p>\n
