[applies to England &amp; Wales]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>GOV.UK writes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Government is committed to reforming the Energy Performance of Buildings regime to provide a system which:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>provides homeowners and tenants with accurate information about the energy performance of their homes to allow them to make informed investment and purchase decisions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>provides accurate information to determine eligibility for schemes and measure progress against government targets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>provides an information tool to support a range of actions including reducing carbon emissions, tackling fuel poverty, improving decency and the Warm Homes Plan&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>reflects the needs of wider users of EPCs beyond homeowners and tenants, such as suppliers of energy efficiency products and services, as well as lenders<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To achieve this, the consultation includes proposed reforms to enhance the regime in 5 critical areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>updating what EPCs measure through additional metrics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>updating when energy certificates are required by refining the rules for obtaining EPCs and DECs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>managing energy certificate quality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>improving the accessibility of building performance data<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>strengthening the quality of air conditioning inspection reports<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/consultations\/reforms-to-the-energy-performance-of-buildings-regime\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Read more&#8230;.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>image for illustration The Government has issued a consultation on changes to Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), Display Energy Certificates (DECs), and air conditioning inspection reports (ACIRs), closing 26 February 2025.
