This event, to be broadcast from London\u2019s Charterhouse, will see the appointment of the IHBC\u2019s new President \u2013 Rebecca Thompson \u2013 as well as one or more nominated Vice Presidents, to serve respectively as Chair and Vice Chair(s) of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihbc.org.uk\/aboutmain\/council\/index.html\">Council<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018We\u2019ll also have the chance to thank Mike Brown, as retiring President, who will take on the role of Immediate Past President, and others. As ever too, we\u2019ll have more great Council CPD in offer \u2013 exclusively for IHBC members \u2013 this time on the care of historic estates and property, centred on the Charterhouse itself.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/linkedin.com\/in\/rebecca-thompson-91156616\">Rebecca Thompson<\/a> said: &#8216;I&#8217;m really looking forward to taking up my post as IHBC President on 24 March at the London Charterhouse.&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8216;It&#8217;s also our Council&#8217;s first ever blended meeting and, among other matters, will explore the management of heritage estates as well as thank our outgoing President Mike Brown. So I&#8217;m especially keen to encourage our Branch Committees to plan early for attendance by their Council representatives or alternates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018The National Office will soon be sending details to Branch Committees on arrangements for in-person attendance, and to all our members on booking in to the online programme, so please do keep an eye out, and mark your diaries accordingly!\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IHBC Director Se\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018The IHBC is still refining terms and procedures for Council, so we can best support its uniquely inclusive role in our governance. \u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018In advancing the ongoing modernisation and governance we are calling for up to four Vice Presidents \u2013 to start at this or later meetings \u2013 and take on roles as summarised below.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have any queries on the role please contact either David McDonald at <a href=\"mailto:chair@ihbc.org.uk\">chair@ihbc.org.uk<\/a> or Se\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly at <a href=\"mailto:director@ihbc.org.uk\">director@ihbc.org.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>TO STAND FOR ELECTION AS VICE PRESIDENT, NOMINEES MUST:<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Have capacity to attend up to 8 meetings a year, \u2018virtual\u2019, blended and\/or in person, and to undertake relevant networking and promotion of the IHBC and our members\u2019 interests<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have deep and demonstrable experience of the IHBC and our membership, including as an active IHBC volunteer, ideally in roles such as on a Working Group, Branch Committee, Council, Committee or the Board, and\/or as a senior member of a relevant local, national or UK-wide body<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have experience of operating across diverse areas of the heritage, conservation and\/or construction sectors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be an accredited member of the IHBC, able to demonstrate active participation in the affairs of the institute at regional, national and\/or international levels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Nominees must submit an \u2018Expression of Interest\u2019 in the form of a \u2018Statement\u2019 addressing your ability to meet the Job Description and, in no more than 500 words, a description of your vision to taking on this role, by midnight on Monday 24 February to <a href=\"mailto:admin@ihbc.org.uk\">admin@ihbc.org.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>IHBC Vice President(s): Responsibilities as Co-Vice Chairs of IHBC\u2019s Council<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The post-holders are responsible for the following activities, roles and commitments:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To support the Presidential Team in Council meetings and operations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To develop skills and knowledge required to succeed, if desired, as Senior Vice President.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To promote the Objects of the Institute. To act as ambassador to raise awareness and profile of the IHBC and champion the conservation of the historic environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To assist in the oversight of Council structures, membership, representation, skills sets and planning, ensuring alignment with corporate and business plans as required.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vice Presidents will normally serve a period of up to two years.
