IHBC Director Sean O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018Our IHBC NewsBlog updates on the diverse career opportunities in heritage, conservation and related areas posted on the IHBC Jobs etc<\/em><\/a> service continue to demonstrate the huge variety of roles that employers are looking to us to help fill.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018Any IHBC NewsBlog or IHBC Jobs<\/em> etc.<\/em> listing ranges widely across sectors, skills, employers, locations and roles, but all have one special consideration in common: to secure the person they need, they target IHBC members and their skills, and our wide-ranging networks too.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018Senior management skills are more prominent in the private sector this round:\u00a0 RPS is calling for a Director\/Senior Director \u2013 Built Heritage; AOC Archaeology Group for a Buildings Archaeologist \u2013 Senior Project Officer, while Arup seeks a Senior Conservation Architect.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018As usual, the private sector does also call for mid-range and technical skills, with Purcell seeking a Heritage Consultant & Assistant Heritage Consultants, Marrons an Assistant Heritage Planner, while we also see a less familiar call from Bidwells for an Architectural Technologist.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018Councils, rightly, remain a core provider of heritage and conservation services.\u00a0 Harborough and Somerset councils each seek Conservation Officers, as does High Peak and Staffordshire Moorlands.\u00a0 Other councils seek more nuanced variations in skills, all and any of which would sensibly look to IHBC accreditation: Newark & Sherwood seeks a Planner \u2013 Conservation & Planner Development, and the Isle of Man, an Assistant, Registered or Senior Registered Buildings Officer.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018Churches also are looking to build capacity, as the Dioceses of Gloucester seeks a Church Buildings Support Officer and Worcester a Project Support Officer.\u00a0 Charity bodies are also represented here, as Snodhill Castle Preservation Trust (SCPT) seeks a freelance Project management lead.<\/p>\n

\u2018Despite the lower numbers of opportunities than past rounds, all these postings confirm just how cost-effective the IHBC\u2019s Jobs etc<\/em> service actually is for a sector that is invariably populated by price-sensitive employers.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018The postings also re-affirm the public interest priorities that include the complex role of historic fabric and its care in securing our collective futures, from supporting communities to managing carbon.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018Individually too, the posts capture the exceptionally wide spectrum of relevant roles encompassed by the IHBC\u2019s accreditation model, the IHBC Areas of Competence<\/a>, and the skills represented there.\u2019<\/p>\n
