This special edition of the CPD Circular is our short guide to the wide range of IHBC \u2018Continuing Professional Development\u2019 CPD<\/a> support on offer at and around the School. This includes the pre-conference webinar series in May and the Heritage MarketPlace:LEARN<\/a> on 12 June as well as the Day School<\/a> (hybrid) on 14 June, and our Full School which includes these as well as in-person tours on 13 and 15 June and one-off networking opportunities.<\/p>\n

It complements more detailed guidance below.\u00a0 This is centred on a mapping of the Day School presentations to the IHBC\u2019s interdisciplinary conservation practice and learning model, both specific skills sets\u2013 our Competences – and generic areas of conservation practice \u2013 our Areas of Competence \u2013 all as described in detail HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In reality the headings for each Competence and Area of Competence are largely intuitive, so it is not difficult to understand them in the context of the table below.<\/p>\n

You can use the same terms to analyse the supporting CPD across the other days of the School itself as well as the supporting events, including the tours and networking on offer to Full School delegates, and linked CPD events as described below.<\/p>\n

INDICTATIVE CPD ANALYSIS: Day School<\/strong><\/p>\n

Linked School CPD 1: Full School Tours and networking events (Reception & Annual Dinner)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Full School Tours, on Thursday 13 June<\/a> and Saturday 15 June<\/a>, offer unique and one-off insights and context to the wider School themes.\u00a0 As they are live case-studies they also extend the focus of the School\u2019s main themes.\u00a0 So for those investing time and money in the Full School experience, tours are a central part of any IHBC School\u2019s CPD.<\/p>\n

As delegates will decide what their learning priorities are, and the success with which the tours address them, we don\u2019t map these to specific Competences or Areas of Competence: we leave that to you!\u00a0 In general, they will at the very least touch on all.<\/p>\n

And please don\u2019t forget that the live and interpersonal experience at School events is the most sophisticated learning you can achieve.\u00a0 This includes our Thursday Reception and Friday Annual Dinner, as they offer both networking and social opportunities, all critical not only for building your networks and more, but for more informal explorations of the School and wider professional experiences.<\/p>\n

Linked School CPD 2: Pre-conference CPD Webinar Series
\n<\/strong>To get the most out of the School, we are offering a series of free pre-conference webinars<\/a> leading up to the School, extending the exploration of School topics. Linked School CPD 3: MarketPlace:LEARN \u2013 Wednesday 12 June (virtual): 5.00-6.30pm<\/strong>
\n(up to 1.5 hours IHBC recognised CPD)<\/p>\n

The Reading School\u2019s MarketPlace:LEARN<\/a> (5.00-6.30pm, 12 June) is designed to capture the diversity and extend the scope of a traditional IHBC School exhibition floor, through virtual engagement and opening free access to ALL interested.\u00a0 The MarketPlace:LEARN is included in all delegate options.<\/p>\n

The MarketPlace:LEARN offers online sessions that incorporate specific learning and networking opportunities, outlined in the programme when issued.\u00a0 Where relevant, the content is repeated for each session, so delegates may attend any session to reflect their CPD priorities.<\/p>\n
