North Wales Live<\/em> News<\/em> writes:<\/p>\n

It may be a “giant carbuncle” and “concrete monstrosity” to some but one group wants to save a prominent North Wales landmark.\u00a0Conwy Civic Hall – rebuilt in sheet concrete after a fire in the 1960s – has divided opinion for decades….<\/p>\n

Last month an application was submitted to\u00a0Conwy council which spelt out how they planned to remove the 1960s block as part of the redevelopment. It would be the biggest change to the historic town’s appearance for a generation….<\/p>\n

But the Twentieth Century Society (C20) has stepped in with a strong objection to the proposal….<\/p>\n

They say Gwilym Parry-Davies\u2019 cubic concrete design (1967-73) “has a fortified appearance that references the great medieval defensive town walls and gateways that bound the building”.<\/p>\n
