A vital part of a Nottinghamshire village’s mining history could be replaced after it was dismantled over fears it would collapse. Brinsley Headstocks\u2026<\/p>\n

The ageing structure had been fenced off after it was assessed as being \u201cat risk of imminent collapse\u201d last year, with the metal colliery wheels removed in September…<\/p>\n

\u2026 There was a significant backlash to the removal of the headstocks, including from the Friends of Brinsley Headstocks voluntary community group\u2026<\/p>\n

Maintained by the Friends of Brinsley Headstocks voluntary community group, the Headstocks were an historic attraction to visitors and formed part of the nature reserve in the area\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026 Brinsley’s Headstocks are the only remaining physical remnant from its colliery, which closed in 1934\u2026<\/p>\n
