But many are at risk of closing for good if urgent action is not taken.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In England, there are now 900 places of worship on Historic England&#8217;s at Risk Register &#8211; with 53 more added in 2023.<\/li>\n<li>In Wales, 25 per cent of historic churches and chapels have closed in the last decade.<\/li>\n<li>The Church of Scotland is actively planning to close as many as 30-40 per cent of its churches.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At the National Churches Trust, we are doing everything that we can to support church buildings in need.
