{"id":3855,"date":"2012-03-09T15:44:07","date_gmt":"2012-03-09T15:44:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=3855"},"modified":"2012-03-12T18:02:36","modified_gmt":"2012-03-12T18:02:36","slug":"consultation-on-energy-efficiency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=3855","title":{"rendered":"Consultation on Energy Efficiency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Energy Efficiency Deployment Office (EEDO) has been set up to drive a step change in energy efficiency in the UK economy and is making a call for evidence, with a closing date of 4 April, as its first big step towards developing an energy efficiency strategy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">EEDO writes<\/span>:<\/p>\n<p>Energy efficiency is at the heart of the government\u2019s approach to tackling dangerous climate change and ensuring safe, secure and affordable energy supplies. Energy efficiency is often the quickest and most cost effective solution when compared with the alternatives, saving on energy bills and displacing more costly renewables deployment.<\/p>\n<p>EEDO will:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 be the Government\u2019s centre of expertise on energy efficiency<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 support the coherent delivery of our existing energy efficiency policies<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 develop the Government\u2019s energy efficiency strategy (to be published by the end of 2012), including where there is further potential for energy efficiency across the economy and how this might be arrived at<\/p>\n<p>EEDO comprises some 50 civil servants with expertise in analysis, economics, customer insight, statistics and policy delivery.<\/p>\n<p>As part of developing our energy efficiency strategy we have launched an eight week \u2018Call for Evidence\u2019 as the first big step towards this strategy.
