(4 of 7), CC BY 2.0<\/em><\/h6>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u2026 People walking the trail can learn more via a smartphone \u2018App\u2019 or\u00a0 website\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p><em>IP Surfaces <\/em>writes<em>:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Artist: Various Artists; College, High School and Primary Students<\/p>\n<p>Artwork Title: Sea Wall Heritage Trail \u2013 Portholes in Time<\/p>\n<p>Client: Scarborough Borough Council &amp; Scarborough Maritime Heritage Centre<\/p>\n<p>Contractors: IP Surfaces Ltd<\/p>\n<p>Manufacturer: IP Surfaces Ltd<\/p>\n<p>Supplier: Hardscape Products Ltd<\/p>\n<p>Year: 2022<\/p>\n<p>\u2026.The idea for the project came about from the Scarborough Maritime Heritage Centre in 2019, and were consequently awarded \u00a340,000 by the National Lottery Heritage Fund at the start of 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Also involved with the project was the Archaeological and Historical Society and the Scarborough &amp; District Civic Society with permission to use the sea wall given by Scarborough Borough Council.<\/p>\n<p>Each \u2018Porthole in Time\u2019 tells a small part of Scarborough\u2019s rich and varied history. People walking the trail can learn more via a smartphone \u2018App\u2019 or\u00a0 website to get more details on each of the Portholes. Local residents and visitors, together with students from local schools, helped select the historical topics to feature in the project.<\/p>\n<p>IP Surfaces collated all of the original designs and artwork, collaborating closely with Scarborough Maritime Heritage Centre, and reproduced them for their CNC production techniques of reverse etching and sandblasting the granite polished portholes including meticulous hand-crafted attention to detail by the IP Surfaces team.<\/p>\n<p>Project Manager, Huw Roberts, a Trustee of the Scarborough Maritime Heritage Centre, commented at the time of installation: \u201cThis is great news for Scarborough, and its residents and visitors.
