The town was an early adopter of mass recycling, specialising in the production of two types of yarn &#8211; known as shoddy and mungo &#8211; which were made from rags&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The new listings are part of the Dewsbury Heritage Action Zone, a five-year project with Kirklees Council aimed at re-energising the town centre through the restoration and reuse of its historic buildings\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Here are the new listed buildings in Dewsbury:<\/p>\n<p>The Town Hall \u2013 upgraded to Grade II<\/p>\n<p>Built between 1886 and 1889 by well-known local architects Henry Holtom and George Arthur Fox&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>18, 20 and 22 Bond Street \u2013 listed at Grade II<\/p>\n<p>These three buildings were all constructed as warehouses in Italian Renaissance style between 1862-71&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Former Fox Auctioneers, 2-4 Grove Street \u2013 listed at Grade II<\/p>\n<p>The former Fox\u2019s auctioneers at 2-4 Grove Street was designed by John Kirk &amp; Sons in 1878 for William Fredrick Fox\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Former Dewsbury Union Offices \u2013 listed at Grade II<\/p>\n<p>The Former Headquarters for Dewsbury Union was constructed by an unknown architect in the 1890\u2019s in a Renaissance Revival style.
