Now in its 13th year, Heritage Debate brings sector leaders, professionals, volunteers and students together for cross sector insight, connection and to find solutions to key challenges facing the sector. The title of this year\u2019s Heritage Debate is: \u2018Careers at a Crossroads: How Can We Future-Proof the Heritage Sector Workforce?\u2019 and will take place from 11am-1pm on Wednesday 15 \u00a0November 2023.<\/p>\n

The Format and Programme<\/strong><\/h3>\n

At this online debate, a panel of experts representing different streams of the sector workforce will each make the case for a key priority area needed to futureproof heritage careers. From apprenticeships to trustee positions (and every role in between), we\u2019ll be asking where we need to focus efforts to make heritage a viable and rewarding career choice. The debate will explore career pathways, volunteering, fair pay and progression, access and inclusion, youth engagement, and much more. Interactive elements will allow attendees to share their own career experiences during the event, as well as voting to decide the outcome of the debate. Our panellists will be announced very soon \u2013 watch this space.<\/p>\n

Publication Opportunity – Share Your Perspective<\/strong><\/h3>\n

We are inviting contributions to a \u2018Letters of Advice\u2019 blog series, which gives you or your organisation the opportunity to offer guidance to fellow heritage professionals facing a crossroads in their careers. This could be a student unsure whether heritage is for them, a mid-career professional looking for opportunities to progress, a trustee considering whether to renew their term, or someone considering a change in direction \u2013 whether you have personal reflections from your career or professional advice to share, we want to hear from you. The letters will be featured on our website and spotlighted before and during the event\u2026.<\/p>\n

Heritage Debate and Heritage Day are leading sector events that attract leaders and senior management of charities, government departments and commercial organisations.
