{"id":37528,"date":"2023-09-08T16:51:06","date_gmt":"2023-09-08T15:51:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsblogsnew.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=37528"},"modified":"2023-09-08T16:51:06","modified_gmt":"2023-09-08T15:51:06","slug":"rics-launches-its-first-women-in-surveying-insight-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=37528","title":{"rendered":"RICS launches its first Women in Surveying insight report"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"text aem-GridColumn aem-GridColumn--default--12\">\n<div class=\"outer_textcontainer\">\n<div class=\"textcomponent\">\n<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-37529 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/RICS-women-surveying-080923.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"281\" height=\"300\" \/>For the first time in the Institution\u2019s history, RICS has produced a \u2018Women in surveying: insight report\u2019 that looks at the makeup of membership from a binary gender perspective and analyses the results of the flagship 2022 survey of women in the profession.<\/h3>\n<h6><em>image: RICS website<\/em><\/h6>\n<h3><!--more--><\/h3>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u2026It is the responsibility of the Built Environment sector as a whole to collectively tackle the issues\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>RICS writes:<\/p>\n<p>Our aim is to share feedback and insight from women on what the barriers to progression and career longevity are so individuals, teams and organisations can reflect and further examine their own behaviours, policies and practices and, more importantly, begin their journey in taking positive action to deliver change with lasting impact.<\/p>\n<p>From lack of recognition at work to limited opportunities for career progression, women experience and continue to face discrimination, bias (whether unconscious or intentional) and inequity in systemic practices.<\/p>\n<p>It is the responsibility of the Built Environment sector as a whole to collectively tackle the issues presented and further examine their own so professionals, regardless of their gender identity, feel an authentic sense of belonging, are valued for their talent, input and professionalism, recognized and rewarded accordingly.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"blockquote aem-GridColumn aem-GridColumn--default--12\">\n<div class=\"blockquote_container\">\n<div class=\"blockquote_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"blockquote1\">\n<p class=\"m-0 blockquote_caption\">\u201cThis insight report is a first for RICS, and what we aim to make the first of many as we continue working to shape a more inclusive and equitable profession for all.
