Historic Scotland (HS) has announced it will be offering \u00a37.69m in City Heritage Trust grants over the next three years.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The grants further the agency\u2019s function to safeguard the nation\u2019s historic environment by aiming to safeguard and enhance conservation areas, the historic environment and sense of place.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Glasgow and Edinburgh will receive the majority of the grant with Glasgow set to receive \u00a32,550,000 and Edinburgh \u00a32,145,000. Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness and Stirling will each receive \u00a3750.000.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The investment builds on the government\u2019s Agenda for Cities and \u00a37 million Cities Investment Fund, which had been launched to ensure Scottish cities and their regions contribute to sustained economic recovery.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Cabinet Secretary for Culture and External Affairs Fiona Hyslop said the continuing improvement in the quality of Scottish Cities was vital to their living environment and economic recovery.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u2018Managing our historic environment creatively also contributes to sustainable economic growth by growing Scotland\u2019s construction industry and increasing the availability and quality of traditional skills and materials,\u2019 she said. \u2018This investment builds on our Agenda for Cities and \u00a37 million Cities Investment Fund, which has been launched to build the momentum to make sure our cities and their regions make the fullest possible contribution to sustained economic recovery \u2013 stimulating economic recovery and job creation.\u2019<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Year of Creative Scotland begins on January 1, 2012 and will spotlight and celebrate Scotland\u2019s cultural and creative strengths on a world stage.
